Park Street Dental’s Principal Dentist reflects on his connection to Thame, the community he serves, and why being a dentist here means more than just looking after teeth.

When you ask Dr Adam Conradi why he chose to build his career in Thame, the answer comes easily. “It’s a really lovely town,” he says. “There are very few chain high-street shops — it’s all little cafes, independents. The people are very nice.” He pauses. “It just felt right when we arrived.”

Dr Conradi has practised dentistry for over 25 years. For 15 of those years, his home has been Park Street Dental Clinic — an independent practice at the heart of Thame, Oxfordshire. He is its owner, its principal dentist, and, in many ways, its anchor.

He came to Thame before starting a family, drawn by proximity to parents and the quiet pull of a market town. He stayed because Thame gave back.

Rooted in the Community

Park Street Dental’s involvement in Thame goes well beyond the surgery door. The practice sponsors the local chamber choir, supports a local arts group, and is a regular presence at the music festival held in the park each year. “We try to get involved in local groups and events as much as possible,” Dr Conradi says. “We are a part of Thame — not just based in it.”

That distinction matters to him. It shapes the kind of practice he has built: one where long-standing relationships, not just appointments, define patient care.

“I’ve looked after some patients for 20 years. You see them get jobs, get married, raise children. Dentistry becomes part of life — not a disruption to it.”

Thame sits at the centre of a cluster of Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire villages, and Park Street Dental reflects that geography. Patients travel from Long Crendon, Haddenham, Chinnor, High Wycombe, and as far as Oxford and Aylesbury. Some come from even further afield.

“In the countryside, people are quite used to travelling 10 or 15 minutes to get somewhere,” Dr Conradi explains. “Thame is the market town — people come here for shopping, for events, and for services like ours.”

It’s that draw to a central, trusted practice that keeps patients coming back. And it’s the reason why, for many families across South Oxfordshire, Park Street Dental is simply the dentist.

What Modern Dentistry Looks Like from the Inside

Running a private dental practice in 2026 is not what it was when Dr Conradi qualified. The clinical side remains the core, but around it has grown a web of responsibilities: compliance, staffing, patient communication, regulatory requirements, and an ever-expanding social media presence that didn’t exist a decade ago.

“Seeing patients is one aspect of what I do,” he says, “and I couldn’t do it without the help of my amazing practice manager.” He’s quick to credit his team. “There are a lot of cogs. You have to keep them all turning.”

What hasn’t changed is the philosophy. Park Street Dental is built around a belief in minimally invasive care — doing what needs to be done, nothing more, and keeping teeth healthy for the long term. “You want to make sure you’re not over-treating. Do as little as possible to make sure things don’t get worse, but don’t under-treat either.”

A Practice That Sees the Whole Patient

Park Street Dental treats patients from their first tooth to retirement — offering free check-ups for children under five, specialist implant consultations, and everything in between. It’s an official Invisalign provider, and free consultations are available for cosmetic and orthodontic treatment.

For nervous patients — and Dr Conradi estimates this describes a significant proportion of his practice — the approach is always the same: slow down, listen, and find out what’s actually going on.

“Some people haven’t been because of a bad experience. Some are just embarrassed. Some have just been busy. You’ve got to get them on side. Communication is key.”

That patience isn’t a strategy. It’s a value — one that runs through the whole team.
